Aluminium Entrance Doors

We believe that the British home improvement industry is failing drastically in its attempts to provide new, good quality entrance doors for homes across the country. What we find even more frustrating is the way that just across the channel in mainland Europe, there is a huge choice which dwarfs the choice of two or three doors in the composite-dominated UK entrance door market.

A composite door is a cheap slab with glued on skins to make the look wooden and much better quality than it actually is, with Solidor, Rocal, and Door Stop among the many samey, lack lustre composite doors currently on the market.

Most of these doors are designed to replicate timber, although a number of ‘contemporary designs’ in aubergine and deep hues have also made their way on to the market.

Yet close inspection of these doors will betray the fact that they are certainly not wooden, with the fixed ‘cassette’ construction becoming obvious.

While composite aren’t necessarily bad products, and number of good points including high level of security and a range of colours, what you certainly do not get with composite doors in our opinion is a product that stands out in terms of quality, design, and originality.

We would contend that so few doors are available on the UK market for one simple, yet somewhat baffling reason: retailers don’t to want offer anything else.

We believe that consumers should be given a wider choice. It is certainly frustrating to see the same old doors flood the market.

Yes, the popularity of a product is often governed by budget, but there are reasons that aluminium doors are selling so well on the continent: the combination of high quality, low price, and aesthetic beauty.
