Caring for Your Aluminium Doors

We take a huge amount of pride in the aluminium doors and windows we produce. We understand the size of the investment they represent. This is why we work hard to ensure that our doors and windows are counted amongst the finest in the country.

This care for our products extends beyond our facility though. We want to make sure that you get the most out of your doors and windows for as long as possible. This is why we like to keep all our clients regularly updated on the best practices for caring for, and maintaining your aluminium doors and windows.

Below, is a few rules we advise you to follow to ensure that you get the best out of your doors and windows.

Cleaning the frames is simply a case of using warm water and some kind of detergent. We advise using a sponge or cloth, certainly nothing harsher than natural bristle brushes. If the mark is really stubborn then you could use a paraffin based cleaner or non-abrasive liquid cream cleaner. If atmospheric pollution has caused heavy soiling then don’t use anything harsher than white spirit.

The frequency at which you should clean varies depending on the environment, but we recommend that even in the most hazardous environments that cleaning take places no more than every 3 months. On the opposite end of the scale, in more rural environments, then we would feel comfortable extending that period up to 18 months.

If you have purchased on aluminium frame with an anodised finish, as oppose to a painted RAL colour, stubborn marks must be removed using an ink rubber.

As well as the frame, we recommend that you clean the tracks as well. By doing so you will ensure proper, correct operation for the lifetime of the doors and windows. The simplest way to do this is to use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust and debris. Do this on a monthly basis to ensure ideal operation. After vacuuming we recommend re-lubricating with a silicone spray where the wheel runs along the track.
