With warm, sunny weather finally here, this is the time of year when the garden is used most. Whether you have a large lawn, or more intimate backyard space, there are several steps you can take to make sure you make the most of your garden this summer:
- Make sure you know the sunny spots
No matter what size garden you have, make sure you know where the sunny spots are. This will help ensure that plants are placed in suitable places as well as furniture positioned to catch the sun at the time of day which suits you best.
- Use pots to help brighten up space
If you haven’t the time (or the inclination) to look after your garden, or plant borders, then pots can be a great way to quickly add life and colour to an outdoor area. Choose contrasting shades of flowers to brighten up patio areas instantly. Markets are a great place to find plants that are ready to pot.
- Use fences and walls as extra growing areas
In small gardens in particular don’t forget that the fence can be a growing area too. You can choose from different climbers or why not grow sunflowers against a wall to add colour as well as a little competition between family members to see who can grow the tallest one.
- Consider sliding doors to connect indoor and outdoor space
To really make the most of your outdoor space, consider installing sliding doors to connect a patio area with indoor living space to help open up each area.
